Pilot Haufmann Wolf-Dieter Huy

Wolf-Dietrich “Wolf-Dieter” Huy (2 August 1917 – 13 July 2003) was a Luftwaffe fighter ace and recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves during World War II.
As part of unit III./JG77, he took part in combat over France, Britain and the Balkans. The unit then gained notable successes in the battle of Crete. It was here that Huy, who had accumulated 22 victories, was awarded the Knights Cross on the 5th June, 1941. Oak leaves were added on in March 1942.
On the 29th October 1942 he was captured after being shot down by J. H. Nichols, who would later become an ace.
